Among Ashkenazim the Jewish name of the deceased is followed by the Jewish name
of his or her father. If these are not known, non-Jewish names are used. |
שֶׁהָלַךְ לְעוֹלָמוֹ / שֶׁהָלְכָה לְעוֹלָמָה
בַּעֲבוּר שֶׁ(פלוני) נָדַב* [ל]צְדָקָה who has gone unto his/her eternal world,

[בְּגַן עֵדֶן תְּהֵא מְנוּחָתוֹ / מְנוּחָתָהּ]
לָכֵן בַּעַל הָרַחֲמִים יַסְתִּירֵהוּ / יַסְתִּירֶהָ
בְּסֵתֶר כְּנָפָיו לְעוֹלָמִים
וְיִצְרר בִּצְרוֹר הַחַיִּים
אֶת נִשְׁמָתוֹ / נִשְׁמָתָהּ in his/her memory
some add:
[May his/her repose be in paradise.]
May the Lord of Mercy shelter him/her
under the cover of His wings forever,
and bind in the bond of life
his/her soul. |
יְיָ הוּא נַחֲלָתוֹ / נַחֲלָתָהּ
וְיָנוּחַ / וְתָנוּחַ בְּשָׁלוֹם
עַל מִשְׁכָּבוֹ / מִשְׁכָּבָהּ

and may he/she rest in peace
on his/her resting place.
